This privacy policy applies to the Taursnake Samsung TV app and the Taursnake Server software for Windows (together, "Taursnake"), and to the Taursnake website at taursnake.com.
The Taursnake apps do not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. Your media files never leave your local network. There are no accounts, no telemetry, no analytics, and no third-party services in the apps.
The website collects your email address in exactly two situations, both of which you start: buying Taursnake Pro, and joining the launch mailing list. Nothing else about your visit is collected or tracked.
The Taursnake app uses your TV's local storage (called localStorage) to remember:
This data is stored only on your TV. It is not transmitted anywhere. Uninstalling the app removes it.
The Taursnake Server reads files from the folders you choose to share, and serves them over your local network when your TV requests them. It logs basic activity to a local log file for troubleshooting. The server does not:
The server only listens for connections from your local network.
Taursnake communicates only between your TV and your PC over your home network. It does not communicate with the public internet during normal operation.
The only exception: if you choose to download an updated version of the server software from taursnake.com, your browser connects to our website to download the file. Standard web server logs apply (IP address, timestamp, file requested). These logs are kept for up to 30 days for security purposes and are not used for tracking or advertising.
The Taursnake apps do not share data with any third party, because they do not collect any data.
The Taursnake website (taursnake.com) uses no advertising trackers, no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, and no social media widgets that load third-party content. The website uses two third-party services, and only when you choose to use them: Stripe, if you buy Taursnake Pro, and Kit, if you join the launch mailing list. Both are described below.
If you enter your email address in the "Email me at launch" form, it is sent to Kit (kit.com), which stores the list and sends the mail, under their privacy policy at kit.com/privacy. You will receive a confirmation email and are not added to the list until you click the link in it.
We use your address for one purpose: to tell you when Taursnake is available. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes your address from the list. We do not sell, rent, or share the list with anyone.
The Taursnake TV app requires no account.
If you buy Taursnake Pro, payment is processed by Stripe. Stripe collects the information necessary to process your payment under their own privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy. We receive your email address and the fact of the purchase — we never see your credit card details. Taursnake Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, so there is nothing to renew or cancel. We use your email address only to deliver your license key and to contact you about that purchase. We do not add purchasers to the mailing list unless they opt in separately.
Taursnake is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from any user, regardless of age.
If we change this policy, the updated version will be posted at taursnake.com/privacy with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes that affect data collection will be communicated to subscribers by email.
