This privacy policy applies to the Taursnake Samsung TV app and the Taursnake Server software for Windows. Together they are referred to as "Taursnake."
Taursnake does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. Your media files never leave your local network. There are no accounts, no telemetry, no analytics, no third-party services.
The Taursnake app uses your TV's local storage (called localStorage) to remember:
This data is stored only on your TV. It is not transmitted anywhere. Uninstalling the app removes it.
The Taursnake Server reads files from the folders you choose to share, and serves them over your local network when your TV requests them. It logs basic activity to a local log file for troubleshooting. The server does not:
The server only listens for connections from your local network.
Taursnake communicates only between your TV and your PC over your home network. It does not communicate with the public internet during normal operation.
The only exception: if you choose to download an updated version of the server software from taursnake.com, your browser connects to our website to download the file. Standard web server logs apply (IP address, timestamp, file requested). These logs are kept for up to 30 days for security purposes and are not used for tracking or advertising.
Taursnake does not share data with any third party because it does not collect any data.
The Taursnake website (taursnake.com) uses no advertising trackers, no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, and no social media widgets that load third-party content.
The free version of Taursnake requires no account.
If you subscribe to Taursnake+, payment is processed by Stripe. Stripe collects the information necessary to process your payment under their own privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy. We receive only your email address and a randomly generated license key from Stripe — we do not see your credit card details. We use your email address only to deliver your license key and to communicate about your subscription (renewal, cancellation, billing failures). We do not send marketing email unless you explicitly opt in.
Taursnake is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from any user, regardless of age.
If we change this policy, the updated version will be posted at taursnake.com/privacy with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes that affect data collection will be communicated to subscribers by email.
